You can mix protein water the night before. Use a sealed bottle, refrigerate it immediately, and drink it within 24 hours. Twenty-four is a conservative number rather than a hard expiry; it also keeps you ahead of the point where the drink tastes stale.
The logic is ordinary food safety. Bacteria multiply fastest between 40 F and 140 F, and USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service advises discarding perishable food left at room temperature for more than two hours, or one hour above 90 F. Troubleshooting
Too much foam
Whey proteins are surface-active: they collect at the air-water boundary and stabilize bubbles, the same property that makes them useful in mousses. Shake 10 to 15 seconds only, fill the bottle closer to the top so there is less air to whip, and wait three minutes before opening. Foam is cosmetic.
Clumps at the bottom
Almost always from pouring water onto powder, or mixing without a spring ball. Add powder to water, use the ball, and split doses over 30 grams into two additions.
Chalky or gritty mouthfeel

Bitter aftertaste
